In the Upper Black Forest,as here on the Feldberg (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district),there were the first heavy snowfalls on Tuesday with the cold air and temperatures below freezing point - on Wednesday the landscape presented itself in its best white winter dress. Sugar-covered fir trees with a snow depth of a good 40 centimetres,sunshine attracted the first winter sports enthusiasts to the highest elevation in the country. On the first weekend in December,the winter sports season on the Feldberg is to be opened.
