ALGERIA, At-Ahmed: Algerians pay tribute to late Algerian opposition figure Hocine Ait-Ahmed, on January 1, 2016 in his home village after his body was brought to his homeland for a state funeral. Ait-Ahmed, one of the fathers of Algeria's struggle for independence from France and then a longtime opposition figure, died in Lausanne, Switzerland on December 23, his Socialist Forces Front party said. Ait-Ahmed, 89, was the last of the nine so-called sons of Toussaint, who launched the uprising in November 1954.
