ITALY, Pompeii: Experts prepare to scan the body of a victim of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 using modern imaging technology at the Pompeii archeological site near Naples, Italy on September 29, 2015. In late September, a team of archeologists, anthropologists, radiologists, dentists and engineers appointed by the Archaeological Superintendence of Pompeii released the first results of a landmark project in which 86 bodies preserved in ash and plaster are being studied using computerised axial tomography (CAT) machines.
